No, but thank you. I liked the "Starcatchers" story itself... but just not as a Peter Pan story. I just don't see how it's acceptable to make fact-checking mistakes from the original story and to ignore Pan's original backstory altogether.

I don't think they did an amazing job. Peter Pan had a backstory. Theirs is not even close. Plus, they have a TON of mistakes from Barrie's original tales. And if it's supposed to be a prequel to Disney's, they wind up contradicting that, too, later in the series.
It seems like they never even bothered to read Barrie.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Uglies series too, especially from Cory Doctorow on Boingboing. The publisher offered a free PDF of the book a few weeks ago, so I have it on my computer and plan on reading it through soon. I'm glad you liked it as well, I'll have to post my own review of it once I've read it :)

The Magician's Nephew is my favorite of the Narnia books too. I read them all many years ago - some multiple times - and as the series went on, and as I got older, I grew tired of the (IMO) often clumsy religious metaphors. But I always enjoyed The Magician's Nephew as a nice fantasy story, especially the 'origin' bits of things I was already familiar with having read The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe.

the beginning totally freaked me out, but at the same time I knew I couldn't stop there and it only motivated me to finish it. I thought it was really interesting and enjoyed how it was told from the dead girl's point of view, something you don't see too often. The end frustrated me but that's all I'll say so I don't ruin the ending for someone else :)

I agree, Jeane. The dad stealing the girls hard earned and saved money, the mom eating the chocolate bar while the children were starving, and the mom letting horrible things happen when the uncle (? I think) came over to visit were truly horrible. It IS a miracle that the children turned out as well as they did--and with as much success!
